South Texas Ranching Dreams
Meet CFC members, Tino and Cindy Martinez - Laredo, TX.
Tino Martinez, along with his wife and two sons, operate a cow-calf operation in Laredo, Texas.
With a deep love for ranching, the people, and its culture, Tino celebrates his dream of managing his Brahman cattle operation with the help from Capital Farm Credit. Raising replacement heifers in the South Texas heat is no simple accomplishment, yet he makes it look easy.
“We’ve been ranching since 2004,” says Martinez. “We have a cow-calf operation, me, my wife, and my kids. We raise replacement heifers and take them to auction sales.”
Ranching along the Texas-Mexico border doesn’t come without the South Texas heat.
“It’s important to monitor the droughts. Whenever we don’t get enough rain, we will rotate the cows to different pastures. The hardest part about ranching in South Texas is the lack of rainfall.”
At the end of the day, the ranching lifestyle Tino has created is not only for himself but for the next generation.
“The most rewarding part about all of this is, is raising my kids to be next generation ranchers. We are doing this together, and it is a dream come true.”
Not only do Tino and his wife, Cindy, operate a cattle operation, they manage and oversee Bushland Ranch Store.
“The store was my first business. I enjoyed everything surrounding livestock and ranching. We got the store in 2007. I have met a bunch of customers in the ranching industry and enjoy it a lot.”
At Capital Farm Credit, we create opportunities for Texas farmers and ranchers. With lenders ready to assist our members in agriculture financing, making the ranching lifestyle a reality is what our team does every day.
“This is my dream. Without the help of Capital Farm Credit, I would not have the opportunity to be ranching. Some of my goals I wanted to have in my lifetime, wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Capital Farm Credit.”
