45-Year Finish Line | Celebrating Weldon Schiller’s Farm Credit Career

Capital Farm Credit recently celebrated the retirement of long-time colleague and friend, Weldon Schiller. Weldon announced his retirement from Capital Farm Credit’ s credit review department in early 2025.
“When I started nearly 15 years ago, we still had a few 30- and 40-year veterans around, but it’s becoming increasingly rare,” said Jeff Norte, chief executive officer for Capital Farm Credit. “To dedicate nearly 46 years of service to a cooperative is truly something special.”
Weldon began his Farm Credit career with Waco Production Credit Association in May of 1979. A graduate of Texas A&M University, Weldon grew up close to agriculture and rural Texas.
“My parents were farmers and borrowers of PCA, and thus I was very familiar with Farm Credit and its purpose,” said Weldon. “I always admired how the lenders at Waco PCA were not just lenders but took a genuine and sincere interest in the success of my parents’ farm operation.”
“The PCA lender’s understanding and sincerity in helping others inspired me to want to work for Farm Credit,” he explained.
Farm Credit’s mission to serve agriculture and rural communities has been around for more than a century. During his career, Weldon held positions throughout the system including CoBank where he was colleagues with current Farm Credit Bank of Texas Chief Executive Officer, Amie Pala.
“I’ve known Weldon for most of his career, and I can honestly say he’s always been one of the most positive people I’ve had the pleasure to work with,” said Amie. “Every time we crossed paths, usually in the old bank building, he had a smile on his face. We shared a lot of good memories and it’s been a career well lived.”
In Weldon’s nearly 46-year career, much has changed in Farm Credit, however the relationships and support for rural America has stayed the same.
“The most rewarding part of my career has been helping our borrowers achieve their goals and dreams,” said Weldon. “I feel the thing that has changed the most during my time here is our use and understanding of technology in delivering timely and efficient service that meets the needs of our borrowers to better help them grow their operations.”
As Weldon takes his first steps into his next chapter, you can be assured he still intends to serve others in his local community while enjoying making memories with family, grandchildren and friends.
“We’re incredibly grateful for everything Weldon has done for our Association and throughout the Farm Credit System,” said Jeff Norte. “He’s had an amazing career, and we are honored to celebrate this milestone with him. Congratulations Weldon!”
